Once upon a time, a woman was picking up firewood. She came upon a poisonous snake frozen in the snow. She took the snake home and nursed it back to health. One day the snake bit her on the cheek. As she lay dying, she asked the snake, “Why have you done this to me?” And the snake answered, “Look, bitch, you knew I was a snake.”

  4. the Web is flat

the internet lets us all compete on the same playing field.  in fact, i find that that the larger & wealthier your business, the more people are involved, the further you distance your digital self from your customer, the harder it is to compete online.  web 2.0 and beyond is all about the customized experience.  businesses aren’t pushing any more, customers are pulling.  it’s harder (becoming increasingly impossible?) to satisfy the masses and easier to completely satiate a select cult following.  much of theall of thebusiness we cultivate is based around this principal.

In life, especially as a startup, the family and friends you surround yourself with and the teammates you build your business and career with mean everything.  Robin Williams once said

I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone , it’s not … The worst thing in life is to end up with people that make you feel all alone.

We build and maintain our interpersonal relationships every single day.  It’s your choice to actively pursue relationships of deep, personal value.
